Editorial policy
This page sets out where the numbers in our guides come from, what we will not publish, how we make money, and what to do if you think we have got something wrong. It is deliberately specific, because a policy written in generalities cannot be checked against what a site actually does.
Who writes these guides
Guides are published under the name of the site rather than under an individual byline. We would rather carry one accountable name — the publication's — than invent a roster of personas. Every page carries the date it was published and the date its specifications were last checked, and the correspondence address below reaches the person responsible for the page.
Where a guide reflects hands-on use of a product, it says so on that page, in that section. Where it does not say so, assume the guide is built from published specifications, manufacturer documentation, and the applicable regulations — which is how most of this site is written.
Where our numbers come from
- Product figures come from the seller's own listing, read on the date noted at the top of the guide. Listings change without notice. A figure we quote is a figure that was published on that date, not a promise about today.
- We do not publish a specification we have not seen stated. If a manufacturer does not publish continuous motor rating, cell chemistry, or sustained power limit, we write that it was not published. We do not estimate it and present the estimate as a fact.
- Regulatory statements name the rule. Where we describe a class definition, an airline battery limit, or a road-legality rule, we describe the rule as written and tell you the authority that sets it, because these vary by state and by carrier.
- Arithmetic is shown, not asserted. When a useful number is not printed on a listing but can be derived — watt-hours from volts and amp-hours, for instance — we show the calculation so you can run it on a different product.
What we will not publish
- Rankings and “best overall” verdicts. In these categories the right answer depends on the buyer's weight, terrain, storage, and local law. A ranking that does not know those things is a marketing device, not a finding.
- Fabricated testing. We do not describe tests we did not run, and we do not present manufacturer claims in language that implies we verified them.
- Medical, legal, or financial advice. Mobility equipment in particular sits close to medical territory. We describe specifications and regulations; we do not tell you what equipment your condition requires. That is a conversation for a clinician.
- Urgency and scarcity theatre. No countdown timers, no invented stock levels, no “price ends tonight”. If we cannot persuade you with the specification, we have not earned the sale.
- Coverage bought with money. We do not accept payment for a review, for a position in a guide, or for a link inside editorial text.
How we make money
Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you buy through one, the retailer pays us a commission and you pay the same price you would have paid anyway. Where a page contains affiliate links, it says so at the top of that page, above the content, not in a footnote.
The commission does not change what we cover or what we say. This is easy to claim and hard to prove, so here is the concrete commitment that makes it checkable: our guides routinely tell readers not to buy. Where a category has a free or cheaper alternative that will serve most people, the guide says so, and it says so above the purchase link rather than below it. If you find a page on this site where that is not true, it is a defect and we want to hear about it.
Corrections
We correct errors on the page itself and note what changed and when. We do not silently edit a claim out of existence.
If you believe something here is wrong, write to [email protected] with the page URL and the specific claim. Specific beats general: “the continuous rating in the third table is the peak figure” gets fixed; “this article is inaccurate” usually cannot be acted on.

Photographs on this site are licensed stock images used to illustrate a category, not photographs of the specific products discussed in the text. They are never presented as evidence for a claim. Every image is credited, with a link to the photographer, on our image credits page.
Independence
Synaptic Web Tech is not owned by, funded by, or operated on behalf of any manufacturer or retailer in the categories it covers. We are not an authorised dealer or an official representative of any brand mentioned on this site.
